No Scoping Lesson From Halo 3 Pros TC Legend

Halo 3 Sniper Rifle

As a pro Halo 3 player one thing people always ask me is how do I get good with the Sniper Rifle? Well before I give you some great tips we need to talk about controller settings and your Television. I play with vibration turned off. The reason for this is when sniping especially no scoping a steady hand is a must. If you are trying to snipe someone and your controller vibrates it is likely to startle you and make you “jerk” this can make you miss shots. I also recommend using a wired controller. The reason is there is a slight lag on wirless controllers making your reactions slightly slower. You need every advantage to pull off those clutch snipes. Now lets talk about your T.V. Large TV’s make it harder to aim to due screen lag especially plasma and lcd big screens. I play on a 22 inch CRT T.V. I know it would seem like a big T.V. would make it easier to aim but this is simply not the case. While the big T.V.’s look nice they are not suitable for competitive gaming. Another thing to take into consideration is what sensitivity you play on. The default sensitivity is 3. Most pros play on 4-6. I myself use 4. A higher sensitivity doesnt always mean better. Anything higher than 6 will be very hard to snipe with. Now for my advice…

Tip # 1- When no scoping don’t charge your opponent, let them charge you this makes it easier to put your aimer where their head is and get a kill. This way you can aim where your opponent is going to be.

Tip # 2- It is easier to no scope when you are on an elevation higher than your opponent such as being at the top of a ramp and your enemy is at the bottom. So when you’re below an enemy it maybe best to use another weapon.

Tip # 3- A great time to no scope/beatdown or no scope is when someone is coming up an airlift and you’re waiting on them to come up. The reason this is true is because their body only moves up and down not side to side. This makes it easy to predict where they will be and get a kill. The lift put them in one motion and they always come up the same exact way so just practice this.

Tip # 4
- No scoping in great for narrow hallways. The reason for this is that there’s not that much space for your enemy to go so the probability that you will get a kill is pretty good.

Tip # 5- Kind of a no brainer but look for your cursor to go red and shoot. Also if you hit someone once go for the beatdown do not try to get another shot off.

Tip # 6- No scoping is best done up close because the target is bigger when closer and you can go for the beatdown.

I play on 2 sensitivity… it works fine for me and i know pros and semi-pros who play on 2 also so i would make the case that 2 is fine… just look at lhomicide he plays on 2 and is a great player. 3 is also fine theres over 10 mlg players on the circuit who play on 3 or lower so i wouldnt say that 4-6 is the right suggestion!

i play on 4 sensitivity and bumper jumper for controls. i recommend bumper jumper because it’s easier to control your player as you are being shot at or being shot. My vibration is off usually but, sometimes if your not as aware as MLG pros you might want to keep your vibration on so you know your getting shot. O and another sniper tip like on narrows, The Pit or guardian is to keep around the outside edges of the map. the sniper is least affective when trying to run down the middle or in the open area. If you have any other questions just message me i’ll be more than happy to help.

senstivity goes with the controller. if you have a 2 year old controller, it will need a higher sensitivity to be good. if you have a new controller, 3 or 4 will due.

my tip for no scope, is to just aim at head level, all the time. or play 10 ranked sniping games, while no scoping the entire time for practice.

I like using sensitivity 7 – 10 because there’s a sniping glitch where you can shoot then push left or right on the right analog stick which causes (what i call) an arc shot. It works beautifully with a little practice.

I currently play at sensitivity 7-8 and i do just fine

lower sens. are fine but when you have to turn around to check your back it will get you killed, and with enough playtime 7-8 will feel just as good at 3-4.

also im not sure if he mentioned this but when you rick-click to zoom you can hold it down and when you let go you will automatically go back to normal zoom instead of cycling though you 10x zoom. this helps when that guy just happens to be a bit too far away ~quick zoom- paint the wall with his brain cells- quick out- continue owning the world~

if any of you want to learn to play with higher sensitivity i reccomend starting at basic and going up one at a time, when you feel comfertable playing with one move up, i know it sounds dumb but you will be surprized how much taking baby steps will help in you gameplay.

hope my advice can help a little and thanks for the tips.
